Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre provides an additional service in arbitrations, mediations, adjudications, expert determinations, and other ADR proceedings, where the role of the OAC would be to act as the Appointing Authority only. This could be pursuant to ad-hoc rules or procedures agreed by the parties; or under the UNCITRAL arbitration rules and other institutional rules; or when requested to do so by a competent court.

The scope of the appointment services provided by the OAC would not be limited only to the appointment of the arbitrators, mediators, experts, and other neutrals but would also include:
The determination of challenges; and
Substitution of arbitrators, mediators, experts, and other neutrals removed by the institution on the basis of a successful challenge, or otherwise.
